To assist with this growth, we are currently recruiting for an experienced HR generalist with extensive employee relations experience preferably in a retail environment.

Job Description

• Offer guidance and support to the Area Manager with recruitment processes from shop floor/department staff and management staff.

• Develop existing performance reviews and appraisal scheme to ensure they are specific to Rigby and Peller.

• Ensure activities meet with and integrate with organisational requirements for quality management, health and safety, legal stipulations, environmental policies and general duty of care.

• Ensure staffing levels are appropriate and stores are not over staffed. This is achieved by spending time with internal management to plan staff time effectively.

• Liaise with other store/departmental managers as to understand all necessary aspects and needs of HR development, and to ensure they are fully informed of HR objectives, purposes and achievements.

• Carry out exit interviews for heads of departments unless otherwise requested.

• Create competency packs and ensure training sessions are carried out timely.

• Introduce modern pay structures and harmonizing terms and conditions in order to reward staff fairly and competitively and to acknowledge their contribution.

• Provide a range of non pay benefits through motivational workshops for staff.

• Work on Company Handbook and keep it updated with latest legislation.

• Carry out policy training yearly to ensure management understand the legal implications whilst updated them on important legislation changes.

• Carry out monthly payroll with the bookkeeper. Input on necessary information for salary benchmarking.

• Work with the internal management on training and development plans for fitting consultants and management.

• Provide monthly management report to the Finance Director prior to the board meeting.

• Ensure acceptance letters and contracts are sent out timely and relevant information forwarded onto the accounts department.

• Manage the maternity/paternity and absence procedures for all staff.

• Provide support in ad hoc HR projects.




Key Competencies for the Positions




Previous HR experience is essential but more importantly you must be able to demonstrate, from this experience, the following:




• a good understanding of employment law and UK legislation.

• the ability to lead and implement change and examples of this.

• the ability to understand the needs of the customer and how this feeds back into efficient internal processes that results in both customer and employee satisfaction.

• evidence that illustrates your strong organizational skills that incorporates attention to detail.

• good communication skills, that when tested at interview stage, become self evident.

• the ability to work in an autonomous role.

• evidence of when you have had to be analytical and creative (not necessarily at the same time).

• examples to illustrate your problem solving skills.

• examples of any ‘out of the box’ thinking that has resulted in improving business performance and employee satisfaction.
