Breast Cancer Awareness
Breast cancer is cancer of the breast tissue which is the most common form of
cancer in females and affect approximately 10% of all women.
“Breast Cancer Care” is a charity which focuses on ensuring
that everyone affected by breast cancer is given the best treatment and care.
They provide numerous free services including a helpline and support.
It seems to need to go without saying that breasts are
important to us. We pride ourselves on our customer service, our knowledge and
our ability to provide helpful and caring advice.
Rigby & Peller fits and provides advice and help for women
who have been affected by breast cancer and provide a mastectomy fitting
service in store. We have staff that are professionally trained in fitting
mastectomy bras and have a wide variety of lingerie we recommend for women who
have been affected by this disease.
Rigby & Peller support “Breast Cancer Care” and the work
that they do, we have the “Think Pink” ribbon available in store for “purchase”
or donation.
As well as supporting this charity we are also involved in
numerous other charities donating Rigby & Peller vouchers as well as
special lingerie giveaways and have recently donated 500 bras to a local
charity.

When the Royal Marsden Early Diagnostic Unit (Breast Cancer) was threatened
with closure, June Kenton with Mrs Rosalind Runcie, wife of the late Archbishop
of Canterbury, organised a petition to the Ministry of Health which collected
many thousands of signatures and Mr Norman Fowler (Minister of Health) withdrew
the notice of closure. Rigby & Peller have sponsored the Royal Marsden
Diagnostic Unit for many years and lecture and the 3-day Breast Cancer Forum.

To celebrate 35 years in the lingerie industry, Rigby & Peller had one
million “Breast Cancer Awareness Campaign” labels printed. All bras carried by
Rigby & Peller at the time carried one of those labels.

One to One is a charity group which provides vital support to children and
families in need, who have fallen through the net of Government financial
assistance in Israel, the former Soviet Union and most recently, South Africa.
We sponsored June Kenton and others in the One to One Children’s Charity treks
in the desert.

David Kenton raised many thousands of pounds for the Weizman Institute of
Social Science in Israel by taking part in the Weizmann Costa Rica Challenge.
