Underwear Materials - A Guide to Lingerie Fabrics
Behind the scenes within lingerie development, the methods of retaining that wonderful overall comfort have been refined down to a complex science. The physiology of the chest that changes from one woman to the next, along with the surrounding arms, shoulders and stomach area, all contribute to the constant shaping and flex of the bra around the body. A deep understanding of the physics involved is required, not just of the body but also with the fabrics needed for producing the best fit and comfort.
Glamorous Lingerie Fabrics
That most popular of materials, cotton, has long since stood the test of time and become one of the mainstay materials on all sorts of bras thanks to its light, comfortable texture and the ability to mass produce. Many, however, tend to associate cotton bras with everyday plain white designs rather than sensual glamour. Similarly, many can associate polyester, another common bra material, with a feeling of unnatural fabric against the skin. Both these materials are put to best use, however, as we strive to offer collections of sensual colour dye combinations on high quality cotton, along with polyester fitting with the luxurious flourish of silk and lace trim.
Sensual Cotton Bra Designs
For our full cup, half cup and balcony bra design, cotton is highly recommended. The variations in stitch allows us to produce the range of shades and relief patterns that open op a flourish of imagination for the designs involved. Similarly, the combination between see through and non-see through stitching gives our lingerie bras, knickers, briefs and g-strings the added air of glamour and mystery.
Versatile Exercise Polyester
Sports bras lean towards the polyester design. While the name for this material is often a byword for unflattering and overly synthetic looks, but the fact is it's the best material for training and exercise. Cotton is a heavy absorber of moisture and sweat, and can often stretch and contort when saturated. That's why our sports range is strictly designed to keep you comfortable on the go.
Alternative Underwear Material
But what of the other materials? Foam is one of the more luxurious fabrics - soft, flexible and strong, foam-based textiles are used to get the best lift on our invisible bra ranges, in particular the famous Magicups. In fact, underwear never consists of just one fabric - spandex is, of course, often used for the straps on bras for the best flexibility, and similarly appears as the elastic fitting inside the top of briefs. This is particularly useful for our strapless and backless designs, where the spandex can be easily detached for the natural bare-shouldered look.
