Spring & Summer 2008 Lingerie Trends
We're excited this season. Recently, the larger lingerie designers and manufacturers have
become a little more daring, and the industry has started to become a little less predictable.
The Spring and Summer lingerie collections over the last couple of years have been vibrant and
extroverted affairs. The 2008 Spring / Summer lingerie season continues that trend; only more
so.
Out With The Old…
The heavy Japanese influences which were ubiquitous in the Autumn / Winter season have been
dispatched. This season sees higher levels of floral designs, brighter colours (brighter even
than last summer's in some cases) and the preference for shorts instead of briefs by some
designers.
...And In With The Old?
Interestingly, it seems that some of the designers weren't quite finished being inspired by
the silver screen matinee idols in 2007's winter season. Marie Jo's '08 line-up is heaving with
30s influenced chic, and Aubade infuses its Anemone range with floral motifs heavily indicative
of '40s movie elegance.
Aubade channels over a century of experience designing and creating lingerie into 2008's
summer season, which offers new swimwear collections and lingerie lines. Aubade's lingerie
this spring and summer "allows women to assume their femininity", particularly with their
stunning Mathilde, La Charmeuse line. A combination of Leavers lace and romantically printed
tulle, Mathilde invokes a sense of 18th century feminine tradition, with its small gathered bows
and mother of pearl buttons.
Printed tulle is used frequently in 2008's spring and summer lingerie season, and Aubade
applies liberal intricate floral designs to tulle in most of their season's offerings.
Sophisticated Spring & Summer Lingerie Fashions
Elixir inject the summer with a degree of high sophistication in their lingerie offerings,
combining the floral patterns which will be so common in 2008 with mesmerising geometric
motifs. These geometric patterns are less common than the floral designs, and are well worth
researching if you want something a little different - yet equally elegant - in the design of
you lingerie during the spring and summer of 2008.
Echoing Aubade's evocation of 18th century femininity, there will be a minor resurgence in
2008's lingerie of broderie Anglais. The light, swirling, ethereal curves which define broderie
Anglais will be prominent in Elixir's latest designs, and it will be blended with Leavers lace,
voile, fine guipure and veiling in other lines too.
Rigby & Peller's 2008 Lingerie
It's with no small amount of pride that we at Rigby & Peller introduce our own Spring - Summer
2008 lingerie range! Our own lingerie range is absolutely exclusive to us; it's only available
in our five stores and on this website, and it's a truly special range. Our Spring and Summer
2008 lingerie range consists of three stunning lines; the feminine Vintage, the elegant and sexy
Alondra, and the young and lively Wild Orchid.
We think the different personalities of our three lingerie ranges work exceptionally well
together; the three ranges offer each other a perfect balance. The sophisticated embroidered
tulle of the Vintage line complements the youthful, spirited, exuberant character embodied by
the Wild Orchid line, which in turn acts as a superb counterfoil to the alluring, seductive
Alondra line.
The sizes in Rigby & Pellers 2008 Spring - Summer range from A - H, and the flawless fit
and supreme support offered by our lingerie will subtly flatter all silhouettes, emphasising
your finest features. Each range is available with a full cup or a plunge bra shape, with a
selection of elegant briefs. Our lingerie lines are defined by their gorgeous colours,
outlined below;
- Colours in the Vintage range include a subtle bellini pink with pale
mint floral embroidery, or a creamy ivory white.
- Our seductive Alondra range is available in a rich black, gleaming
ivory, or a deeply, deeply satisfying damson plum shade - the damson is a desperately
attractive colour.
- The Wild Orchid range is offered in a nightshade black with infusions
of violet - a sensational balance - or a gorgeous pink, blush and coral combination which
will make you feel warm and comfortable.
One feature which Rigby & Peller's 2008 Spring & Summer lingerie has in common with many
other lingerie designers this season is its introduction of the luxury g/string back boxer.
They're sexy and playful, not to mention comfortable and durable, and it should suffice to say
that sexy, short little briefs adorned with tiny gathered bows or delicate, semi-transparent
lace will be popular this season.
We're also offering a delightful number of swimwear items for 2008's summer season. There
are some understated black or turquoise swimsuits, black and turquoise bikinis adorned with
gorgeous, precision-cut Swarovski crystals, and some glamorous, flowing kaftans to keep you cool
and your skin protected in the summer heat.
